In Chicago!

Wow! There hasn't been a posting here since Aug. 17, 2007. Are there any Chicago (actual city) people out there? We are in the city. Moved here from LA on June 2007. --- Adriana

Lil Ricky

Hi all. I am a 38 year old mom of a 34 month old ball of energy named Lil Ricky (we named him Richard for my dad). He is an IUGR micro preemie 29 weeks 1 day, 1 lb 6 oz, and 11.8 inches at birth born at LGH and stayed in the LGH lvl 3 NICU. He has a lot of medical problems and developmental delays but is doing excellent despite his rough start and ongoing medical issues.

He is aging out of EI in January and starting the Illinois state preschool therapy. He will continue with OT and SP at home for an hour each week, the school PT and his leg orthotics should be enough per his EI PT. I am having some fears about my own separation anxiety as silly as that sounds! I waited 79 days to be his full time care giving mommy and the only time he was away from me since NICU discharge was during his surgeries and also when he was readmitted to the PICU for terrible apnea and brady spells.

I don't have any friends or family near by except a sister who works at Rush University in the city and ... she is very busy to say the least. So I am a lonely mom who would love to share stories and meet people now that Ricky is strong enough to fight off colds by himself.

Any other moms in the near north burbs who would like to chat? I just want to warn you though we have a bunch of adopted animals so no matter what I do I always have some animal fur on me... so if you are really allergic you may want to just chat from a distance!

Thanks!
Lil Ricky's Mommy
