Oh goodness, I'm so sorry for your SIL's loss and am glad that you're trying to be there for her despite all that has gone on between you two in the past. Big hugs to you both!
I'm so glad it was just a little infection and not something more serious! Boy what our little ones can get into when we're not looking for five seconds.

That is so what I would've done too!!!! I flip out when there is something uncommon and immediately jump to the worst conclusion. Not good for ya, but hey---if I could stop, I certainly would!! I'm glad it was nothing major and a few antibiotics should fix it right up.
I'm also glad that you're able to offer support to your SIL. I've always said that I wouldn't wish a loss on my worst enemy so.....
