Faith's Journey
Rebecca19 - 04:21pm Mar 21, 2012 ESTWhen my husband and I found out that our second child was going to be a girl we were so excited. We already had a 2 year old little boy and adding a girl was a perfect family of four. Her due date was February 16th, but C-section was going to be February 14th!! A Valentines Day baby girl..... wonderful!!
On November 1, 2010 I was not feeling good and had not felt her move for about a day so we called the doctor. She said for us to come in immediately so we could monitor her and just see whats going on. After only about 10 of monitoring, the doctor came in and said you need to go to L&D and we want to try to keep you and baby for at least 4 weeks! I had no more amniotic fluid. At this time, I was only 24 weeks and 6 days pregnant. Her lungs were not fully developed along with numerous other issues. After only 3 days her heart rate dropped and did not come back up like it had been doing. On November 3 @ 11:45pm, we had a 1lb 4oz and 11in long baby girl. This was the start of our long and trying battle. She had different viruses that were very hard on her delegate little body. She could not breath on her own, she was on a ventilator from birth until she was 2 months old. We knew how bad the vent was on her lungs but we also knew she would pull through. She went to UAB for PDA liagation to help keep fluid off her lungs and she had a minor eye procedure. Through everything our MIRACLE was such a fighter and it helped us fight with her and for her. After almost 4 months in the Shelby NICU she came home February 28, 2011. She did come home on 100% oxygen, but my husband and I learned everything we needed to so we could take care of her. Faith's journey was not easy for her or for our family, but because she was a fighter we too were fighting for her. Everyday was a different journey for all of us but with God with us every step of the way we ALL made it through the toughest thing we have ever been through. There were and will be ups and downs we must encounter everyday but we can do it!
