lol. On your last post I suggested you use one of those Rock and Play sleepers and here you are! It worked great with Reflux in my 29 weeker. I agree with Liz you are doing great! My son also made little like kitten cries when he slept. I didn't think much of it unless he was freaking out and that told me he was hungry, or whatever. The way I knew he was having a reflux issue was he'd arch his back a lot and scream right after he started eating. I liked the rock n play cuz at least when he vomited it would go to the side and not on his bed with him. good luck! Hope you get some sleep!!
Enjoy her! She's finally home!

Katie -
Our ped said sleeping in a bouncy chair, car seat, etc. is ok for a while but you will want to give her sometime that is on her back in her crib. Otherwise she will get used to sleeping in the other gear and not be happy in her crib.
And the noises and grunting - totally normal. Don't waste time on worrying about it unless you really believe she's doing it because she's in pain.
Glad you guys are home and doing well!

Thanks everyone. Right now we are in the rock n play sleeper thingy and once she gets off of this apnea monitor we will probably move her in her crib. Speaking of bouncy seats; is there an age or weight limit for those? We have one but my husband seems to think it would not be good for her yet. I think it just vibrates and plays music which would be amazing because sometimes she has wakeful periods which is great but at times when I need to clean and what not. I have even thought about toting her around in our baby bjorn but she has to be eight pounds for that. Thanks again and hope everyone is doing well

it should say on the box somewhere if it has an age limit or a weight minimum. I would wait if the baby bjorn says eight is the limit. you can never be too careful right? Have they changed the weight limit on rock n plays? When my son was younger I think he had to be six lbs to use his. Really frustrating waiting! It was like that for a lot of little sleeper devices and things. Car seat was a pain to find too. My son was only five, two when he came home at two months! So we had to use an old wooden cradle my grandad made for me ( I was a preemie back in the day). but it was a lot less posh than the NICU crib and no good for reflux. I just couldn't wait till he hit six pounds and we could use his things. Just another prejudice against preemies/NICU parents in the world. Right? Companies just expect your kid to be six lbs or over. maybe that's just my bitter side. Lol. It's late and I just went to a baby shower for a "normal" newborn so I'm ranting.
Hope you find that special seat for your daughter's and your own personal bliss. Sorry about the rant.

Thanks Kate- No worries on the rant, I understand. The rock n play was a hand me down so I wasn't sure about the weight. We have towels rolled up to kind of prop my daughter up in it, we have to adjust her a lot in it but she is getting close to six pounds so that is good. Hope all is well

Mom to Emilyn and Hailey (our 20 week angels) and Elim (our 38 week, full term miracle)! |

For a baby carrier, have you thought about getting a ring sling or a wrap like a moby or sleepy wrap? Those are much more customizable for size and you should be able to get a good fit and keep her in a position so that her airway will be protected too! I found the wraps to be too thick for me, but a ring sling is just a little bit of fabric so you won't be covered and hot going around the house! Anyway, just a thought I had that might let you be able to carry her around the house easier to get some things done!

Our ped said to follow the directions on the carrier b/c of the compression but we had a swing and it said 5 lbs and it still went too fast so we weighted it down with a blanket off the back (I read that somewhere) and it totally worked.
Good luck.

Good idea, Ellen! I wish I'd thought of that when T came home at 4 pounds and the swing on the lowest setting was like a roller coaster ride.
We were told by the developmental specialist at the hospital to purchase a snuggin go. It wasn't demanded, but suggested and it worked.---I never used this device in the carseat---
