I love my kids!

Hi everyone!! Back in 2009, we had our daughter Tori, 4 months early. We spent the winter months in the hospital! Two things we definatly needed...

Good winter snow tires to commute 2 hours to the hospital, everyday.

Synagis shots!! I figured Tori was safe. I assumed she was ok, she was in the hospital, after all. A baby got transferred to our NICU from a neighboring hospital who had RSV. Somehow, then gave it to others in the unit. Then 3 babies got yanked out of the unit and into isolation for the next 3 weeks. Yes, Tori was one of them.

If it can be avoided.....AVOID IT!!

Tori got out of the hospital in January and was back into Children's Hospital because she kept turning blue. Lack of oxygen. Again, with RSV, a 5 day hospital stay in February.

Ask your Dr.'s and Nurses about Synagis, it can save lives!

Holly,

If the doctor was worried, I am sure he/she would advise fighting the insurance but it sounds like he is doing well. You might try avoiding unnecessary crowds like malls etc. Abigail went to daycare too and you can't really avoid people bringing kids in with colds b/c they have to work too. Hopefully they won't bring them in really sick. As Jackie said wash/ purell often and try to find some peace.

Not to worry you even more because I am a huge worrier myself but RSV is a danger still. I have a friend who has a little one not a preemie and she got it this year. I think like the first couple of years RSV is a risk but I think as your child ages and builds immunity it may not be as bad as if he were a preemie still. Basically what I'm saying is I thought RSV was something that is a worry for children the first couple of years preemie or not a preemie. I would fight with the insurance company. My husband is a diabetic and his doctor has had to fight his insurance company here and there on things. Worry is never going to go away but maybe if you get the vaccine it will ease your worries a bit. I hesitate to reply to people's discussions because I'm a first time mom and I am a huge worrier so I don't know if my advice will be the best but I hope this helped a little bit. Hi Holly!
I fought the insurance company and made my doctor explain....AGAIN to the insurance company why she was at risk. T got the shots for 2years and a flu shot this year....she seems to be doing ok with the flu shot. I keep her far away from outside germs to calm my own well being down.

We limited the number of visitors and bought stock in hand sanitized, lol. My daughters job was to disinfect all the visitors.
