I THINK I'M GOING TO BE SICK...

I'd love to give you some advice that is helpful but the only advice I have wouldn't be as helpful as you want Do whatever you need to do to be comfortable. I hope Kaitlyn does OK with the hand-off, but before driving 1 hour each way I would make sure she isn't going to call you to come get Kaitlyn if she doesn't stop crying.
I'll be thinking of you tomorrow,
Laura

Oh Julie, I SO understand this. Urgh, I'm so sorry for this added stress too. You're taking her and driving all that way to your MIL's house. Couldn't you be there for the day and go along with whatever it is that she has planned? I agree that it's best that Kaitlyn gets used to her and do that a few times before being handed off soley by herself for a visit. Does MIL say no, I want her all to myself? I know it's always hard when it's family. You're being totally reasonable. I think your MIL needs to make more of an effort and meet you half-way on your terms if she wants to play a regular part in her granddaughter's life. How important is the relationship? Urgh, family.

Best of luck,

Lindsay

Ugh----I've been there and done that.

I hope that the hand-off goes smoothly and that grandma gets what a great kid she is. I know how your stomach feels as you anticipate it though....

Hugs!!

Thanks guys. I'm so frustrated right now. She just came (late) and picked her up. She refused to come inside but decided to wait in her car for me to bring her to her and drop her off. Then she commented to my mom about how she couldn't believe Kaitlyn wasn't ready because she was already running late... ARRRRGH. And then, to top it all off. She shows up with a booster seat to put her in. She's TWO. Hello brainiac. It was hard. Thankfully Kaitlyn didn't scream and cry (at least she wasn't at the time) but she had this really sad look on her face when I shut the door and kept saying, "Ma? Ma?.... Ma?" it made me want to cry.

I hope the rest of the day went well for her. Poor baby.
