That is amazing, what a great thing for generations to see. Her story will be there forever!
I can't say that I know how you are feeling, that would just trivialize everything you are going through. Just know that I am here for you, always. Lots of hugs coming to you, XOXO.

I have never heard of story corps, but I will definitely look for it now! I'm glad you got to share your love for your little one! How wonderful that it will forever be known!
I cannot imagine your pain as well, I guess getting better IS getting better at hiding and supressing your feelings.. ((hugs))

I love that Akeelah's story, your love for her and yes, even your grief over losing her, will be documented and saved for generations to come.
That cry...I'm not sure those of us who haven't lost a child can understand the pain that brings about that cry from deep within. Reading your words, knowing but not coming close to understanding your pain, I feel so inadequate to say anything at all. I think you're amazing. I think Micah is so lucky to get to see you and hug you and kiss you every single day. I think that Akeelah is lucky to be that butterfly on your shoulder, that ray of sun shining in your hair.
You inspire me, Lauren, to be better, to be stronger, to love harder.

That sounds like such an amazing opportunity and how neat that your daughter's story will be a part of history:)
I know that cry Lauren. Driving home empty handed from the hospital, knowing there's no going back, no NICU stay, just as you say "empty arms and a broken heart." "Better" IS probably getting better at concealing your feelings. I will be thinking of you as your weeks slowly approach.
Hugs and strength,
Lindsay

Wow---how cool is that???! I always wished that I had that type of opportunity to listen to my grandparents speak about life and their joys and sorrows.
Hugs to you as these two weeks go by.

It's so incredible to have your story recorded? Can we see it?
It's all there, isn't it? Sometimes it's stunning to me that we continue to draw breath, to take joy from life, to have hope at all, but we do. Thank goodness it does get better and that sob is less close to the surface. I know it will always be there, though, and I think it will continue to take us by surprise.
Thinking of you.

Lauren:
That sounds like a great experience. I know Akeelah's story will always be remember by all of us, so you see her story even have travel outside US borders. Is the love story of you, her mother, and the great love you have for her.
I am so proud to have meet you, an exceptional human being....
Oh yes that cry, and that drive back home....
Thinking of you these days
