Sometimes there is just no getting around the anger, the sadness. Sometiems, you have to acknowledge the wolf so that it can snarl and growl and work out the dark emotion. Sometimes, the beauty has to take a backseat to the darkness. But the darkness recedes, because Akeelah is loved. You are loved. Micah is loved. All of you are so, so loved, by so many people.

But I know none of these words make it better. They can't. She's still not here and June is still looming.

I'm so sorry.

I know that anxiety of a month to come filled with so much more emotion and pain. It never leaves does it Lauren? She is always with you and loves you dearly. Hug that sweet little boy and know that I am wishing you and your family some peace as you approach June.

Awww, hugs to you Lauren! I've found that the days and weeks leading up to the actual day are much harder than the actual day itself. Hoping this wave breaks soon.

I swear there must be more than one June in the year cause it always makes it around awfully fast!

I know those girls are celebrating their birthdays together in Heaven, but I sure do miss them too.

There are those days it just doesn't seem possible! You give so much strength to so many, Lauren. Akeelah has certainly made a difference in my life through you, so I will light a candle with you in June and blow it out and wish that I can do as much good in my sons' memory as you have in your daughter's.
