From MN on ND border

HI! I am from a small town in Minnesota not too far from the North Dakota border. I gave birth two my twins in January of 2004 and 32 weeks. My daughter was born weighing 3 lbs 1.9 ounces and was in the NICU for 6.5 weeks. My son was born still weighing 2 lbs, due to a cord accident. Thankfully Lori is now healthy and catching up as we have prayed for. She weighs right around 20 lbs now @ 18 months.
Lori was actually born in North Dakota as that was the only hospital in the area with a NICU.
Hope to chat with you all soon!

Mom of Lincoln and Austin--25 Weeks 6 days

    Twins in Redwood Falls MN--Central/Southwest

I check the March of Dimes website quite frequently and leave occasional messages on other message boards. I have 13 month old Twin boys named Lincoln and Austin and they were born at Fairview Universtiy at 25 weeks 6 days and weighed 1 lb 14 oz and 1 lb 16oz. They are doing well. I just wanted to leave a message to let you know. We are located in Redwood Falls which is kind of South/Central MN--kind of in the middle being like 45 minutes between larger towns like Willmar, Marshall and New Ulm. My boys have a Caringbridge website which we still update pictures if anyone is interested it is: www.caringbridge.org/mn.ouradatwins

HI Page... sorry it's been awhile since I have been on the site. Busy busy days as the summer settles down. I had to chuckle when you mentioned the friend you met- Julie, right? I had the priveledge of meeting her this summer through a friend of mine and she truly is an angel on earth! What a great lady!

No, Avery did not spend any time in the NICU. We were very lucky as the helicopter waited to take him but he came out screaming during my c-section and did not require any assistance. We'd had betamethasone therapy, knowing he was coming early and amnio said his lungs were not ready yet. The steroids obviously worked and we are very blessed with this little guy.

Feel free to drop me a line at aidanleesmommy@yahoo.com

    Melanie,

Yes, Julie. Our boys were "roommates" throughout their hospital stay. I feel I was so blessed to have met her. We usually see eachother about once a year, but talk on the phone probably monthly. She is a gem, isn't she?!

Hope things are going well for you. If I don't hear from you on here soon, I'll drop you an email @ yahoo!

    Take Care,

Re: Getting to know people in SE Minnesota near Rochester

    Hi Katie!

I was very excited to see that you are near Rochester! I live about 40 minutes sw of Rochester. I am there at least once a week, and my mom and brother live there. My husband also works there.

My son Luke was born at 28w 5d and spent 7 weeks in the NICU at ST Mary's. Not nearly as long as you, but long enough to understand the ups and downs! I took a quick glance at your website, but I plan to go back and read more about your little Alex. I hope things continue to progress quickly, and I will keep you in my prayers! If you would like to talk more personally, you can email me at pagerowley@yahoo.com. I can even give you my phone number if you'd like.

I look forward to hearing more about your son and you in the near future! Welcome to Share!

    Looking for MN SHARE members

Good evening. My name is Amber, you may have read Samantha's Story. That's us.

Well, another MN member and I were talking about the SHARE gathering in August and know that due to financial issues, we won't be able to attend. (for me,having to get hotel rooms for 6 weddings this year is pretty much eating up my travel expenses)

Anyways, we are looking for other MN members that won't be able to attend, but would like to meet other SHARE members who would maybe like to meet that same weekend, just somewhere in MN. We thought the Zoo or something fun like that.

Anyways, please feel free to post a comment in my blog, or email me directly at briandamber@mchsi.com to let me know your thoughts on this!

just delivered a 28 week 2 day little girl

We just had a little girl on August 27th, 2006. She was born at 28 weeks 2 days. She of coarse is in the NICU still. I also had a son in June of 1999. He was born at 31 weeks and he was diagnosed with Cerbral Palsy @ 6 months of age. He later passed away at the age of 3 for no known reason. He just went to sleep and never woke up. This little girl is bringing back alot of memories of my son and I am having a hard time bonding with her scared that I am going to loose her too.

    Hi Mya's Mommy,

I'm so sorry to hear of the loss of your son. That has got to be every parents nightmare. But congratulations on the birth of your daughter. I have boy/girl twins born at 30 weeks. The nurses always told me how strong the little baby girls were because my daughter had a rough time. (course I never knew how to take that as I had a boy too) So I will keep you and your sweet baby in my thoughts. Are you in MN? If so where? I'm in St. Paul. Send me an e-mail if you would like some support.
    Take Care

I'm angie. I lost my little girl July9th from a brain tumor. she was born on the 6th. we had no clue about the tumor. she couldn't be saved. Emma was born in wyoming, and transfered to the Riverside university in minneapolis. I'm not really from this whold area, and I don't know where to go for support groups, I know I need to talk sometimes, and I really try to keep in touch with the other parents on here to help things, and help them if they need it. I guess if anyone is pretty close to the area and would like to go to the church group with me I would feel really good about it. st. joseph church in lino lakes is having a remembrance for all the people that went home to the lord on nov 6th at 7:00 in the evening. if anyone wants to come, just bring a picture if you have one. and I hope to meet you there, like I said, I really need to talk to someone who has been through this, or is going through this. I really do feel alone. angie

    Hi Angie
I'm so sorry that you lost your little angel. I haven't experienced this but I imagine it is just about the worst thing to have to go through. Have you checked out the parent to parent section under dealing with the loss of a baby? It may help. Also I am in MN so if you ever want to talk e-mail me and I'll give you a call. Sometimes it helps just to be able to talk.

Looking for A Baby to Sponser

My name is Nicole and I am a lead teacher at a Children's World in Roseville, Minnesota. We are currently doing a fundraiser for March of Dimes including the walk. I thought it might be easier for the kids to understand what the campaign is all about if we were able to share a specific story about a family and new baby in need of March of Dimes. Please let me now if there is a possibility of this happening. Thank you. Nicole

The best option would be to contact the office closest to you. They have families who give speeches for just this type of thing!
Thank you, from the mom of a preemie, for donating to the March if Dimes. I think it would be fun for your coworkers to form a Walk America team. It can be a very fun, rewarding experience. I wish you the very best!

Mommy of Blake (full-term), Madi (stillborn @ 28 weeks), Lauryn (full-term)

    Here To Help

We're from NW Minnesota. My hubby is stationed out of the Minneapolis/St. Paul Air Force Base. You're welcome to share our story if you would like. Share has helped us tremendously. Our daughter (Madi) was stillborn, but it's what brought us to Share and got us more involved with the March of Dimes. I know there is a fetal camera (fetoscope) for detecting Madi's situation, but it's still an experimental procedure and is only offered in large medical facilities. One day it will be used as a standard procedure; I'm almost certain.

We're just getting started with our fundraising for the walk. Good luck with yours.

    Here's Madi's Story:
