    Hi Amy,
My name is Mary Beth and I work for the March of Dimes Greater Kentucky Chapter. Thank you so much for participating in the Louisville WalkAmerica and helping to save babies! The walk was a huge success due to the fantastic support we received from all our teams, walkers, sponsors and so many others. I hope that you had a good time there. You mentioned wanting to get involved with your local March of Dimes Chapter. We'd love to have your help! If you'd like to email me at mcamp@marchofdimes.com, I'd be glad to give you more info.

    Re: Get Local: Louisville, KY

    Hey Amy!
My name is Shannon. Waylon is soooooo cute. I read your post about meeting other moms and dads in the Louisville area. Well, I'm not from Louisville but I lived in Winchester KY for the past 7 years (a little over an hour away). I read some of your blog I sometimes feel like I am the only one in the world going through this hurt and pain - that is until I log onto Share. I am more amazed each day, so many families go through what my husband and I are going through. Like you we had twins, ours was 2 girls. They were born in Lexington at UK hospital June 23, 2005. Makaylee Grace was born at 5:36 pm via c section. Isabella Grace was stillborn 4 minutes later at 5:40 pm. We knew throughout our pregnancy that Isabella (we call her Gracie and her sister Kaylee) had spina bifida but it was a "mild case" according to the doctors. I was put in UK at 31-32 weeks due to increasing blood pressures. So after I was discharged I was seen on a weekly basis at the high risk clinic. At 32 weeks Gracie looked great, however at my 33 week appointment her heartbeat was unable to be detected. I was put in UK and labor was held off for 2 weeks until my c section had to be done at 35 weeks. My husband and I are from a small town - Phelps, KY. We burried Gracie there at our family cemetary. However we couldn't stand being 3 hours away from her so 2 months ago we sold our house in Winchester and packed up and moved to Phelps. Its a huge change but we can take Kaylee to see her sister any time we want to now. My walkamerica walk is in a week- April 30th. We did our first walk in Winchester in Oct., just 4 months after Gracies death. I saw your walk pictures---Waylon looked cozy in is stroller. I plan to push Kaylee as well, we have about 18 family members comming out to join us. Well, I've went on for too long, I was just shocked to find somone living so close that had such a similiar experience. Our angels are watching us from heaven. I hope we continue to honor their memories and help fight premature birth and birth defects along with MOD. Walkamerica.org/Isabella_Grace_Smith

My son was born at Suburban Hospital three years ago. He was a preemie, six weeks early, and is doing great now. I am almost pregnant now and we plan on having this child at Suburban as well. I was just wondering if there are any March of Dimes events coming up in the Louisville area.

    Thanks for any info.
