2006 WalkAmerica Open House
Hello, my name is Leslie Brown and I am the chair of the Family Team Committee for the upcoming 2006 WalkAmerica Event. I wanted to invite anyone interested in learning more about how to form a family team, how to start your fundraising, Ambassador Alley, and much more to come to this event. It will be held on Sunday March 5th from 2-4pm at Suburban Hospital in Louisville, KY. The room that the event will be held in is down the hallway that is to the left of the main lobby. We will have signs to direct you to the right area. We will also be serving light refreshments. This is a great time to get all of your questions answered and to meet other families that have been affected by prematurity. We invite you to bring friends and family to this event and to also pass this invitation along to anyone that you know that has been affected by prematurity and may be interested in forming their own family team for the walk.
We look forward to meeting each of you and if you have any questions about this event please call the local March of Dimes Office at 502-895-3734 and ask for either Sue Criss or Laura Boisseau.

Re: Get Local: Louisville, KY
Hey Amy!
My name is Shannon. Waylon is soooooo cute. I read your post about meeting other moms and dads in the Louisville area. Well, I'm not from Louisville but I lived in Winchester KY for the past 7 years (a little over an hour away). I read some of your blog I sometimes feel like I am the only one in the world going through this hurt and pain - that is until I log onto Share. I am more amazed each day, so many families go through what my husband and I are going through. Like you we had twins, ours was 2 girls. They were born in Lexington at UK hospital June 23, 2005. Makaylee Grace was born at 5:36 pm via c section. Isabella Grace was stillborn 4 minutes later at 5:40 pm. We knew throughout our pregnancy that Isabella (we call her Gracie and her sister Kaylee) had spina bifida but it was a "mild case" according to the doctors. I was put in UK at 31-32 weeks due to increasing blood pressures. So after I was discharged I was seen on a weekly basis at the high risk clinic. At 32 weeks Gracie looked great, however at my 33 week appointment her heartbeat was unable to be detected. I was put in UK and labor was held off for 2 weeks until my c section had to be done at 35 weeks. My husband and I are from a small town - Phelps, KY. We burried Gracie there at our family cemetary. However we couldn't stand being 3 hours away from her so 2 months ago we sold our house in Winchester and packed up and moved to Phelps. Its a huge change but we can take Kaylee to see her sister any time we want to now. My walkamerica walk is in a week- April 30th. We did our first walk in Winchester in Oct., just 4 months after Gracies death. I saw your walk pictures---Waylon looked cozy in is stroller. I plan to push Kaylee as well, we have about 18 family members comming out to join us. Well, I've went on for too long, I was just shocked to find somone living so close that had such a similiar experience. Our angels are watching us from heaven. I hope we continue to honor their memories and help fight premature birth and birth defects along with MOD. Walkamerica.org/Isabella_Grace_Smith
Love, Hugs & Prayers
Shannon

My son was born at Suburban Hospital three years ago. He was a preemie, six weeks early, and is doing great now. I am almost pregnant now and we plan on having this child at Suburban as well. I was just wondering if there are any March of Dimes events coming up in the Louisville area.
Thanks for any info.

Hi Amanda!
Congrats on the birth of your three miracles! Sounds like you had a rough time with the 3rd. I actually have some family from that area. I am probably a 2.5 hour drive from you. Do you know an OB with the last name Troyer? We should talk! Email me if you would like. My email is aileigh06@bellsouth.net. That is fantastic that you have been selected as the ambassador family!
