Re: NICU Parent connection

Donna,

I am not sure if you remember me....But i just wanted to thank you for all your help and strength that you showed. When my son was born premature at Kapiolani Hospital.....We did not name him for quite awhile..Then we named him TOBIAS...I have been always sharing my experience and whatever information i can tell others so that they too become aware of what can happen, i too wait for one day when no baby is born to soon. If you remember me that would be great...I would like to send you pictures..

Re: NICU Parent connection

I am the parent of a former 26 weeker. He was born at 2lbs and 13in long. It is still unknown why he was born premature. Dante is now 2 1/2 and doing great!
I have been looking for some way to volunteer with a NICU or with NICU families since we moved to Hawaii. Please get back to me if you still need any help.

Get Involved: HAWAII

Aloha,

My family and i are have gotten involved so that many other families can have their 9 months. We are very blessed to have such educated & committed professionals and caring people like you all here on the March Of Dimes. If it were not for all the efforts and years of your research and support, our baby boy Tobias would have not been with us today. But he is thriving and healthy, you wouldn't even know he was a premiee! Although we are here in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii 96740 and helping to spread the word everyday & will continue to do so!!!! This is our committment to his life & all those who deserve the same. If you are ever in Kona, HAWAII..You will find us with arms open wide & the biggest aloha you will ever get!!!!!

Re: NICU Parent connection

Hi I was just googling and found this post from a couple of years ago, I am the parent of a Kap nicu graduate and would love to encourage and be there for parents who are struggling right now.

After NICU ....

So many families need resources, friendship and encouragement after graduating from the NICU. I'm in the process of forming a group that will help with all that! I need other graduate parents on Oahu to join this committee and give their ideas and resources to help in forming this group. The first meeting is scheduled for September 8th. Please join us! Donna,

I would love to talk with other parents on Oahu that had their babies in the NICU. Could you please give me some information or let me know of any forums?

Thank you,
Debbie

Aloha Debbie!

Welcome to Share. I'm thankful to hear your little one has thrived despite her earlier arrival!

I believe there is a moms group on Oahu, in the meantime don't hesitate to reach out on Share. In the Parent to Parent forum there are lots of different threads about all kinds of things post NICU.

Take good care!

Lauren
