I am so sorry to hear about the loss of Kayden. Although I don't live in Illinois any more I am from there. I live in KY now but my family and all my friends are still there. I grew up by Schaumburg. My husband is a pilot so when he goes to work the kids and I fly to my mom's since its free. Where are you from?

Hi Karri! I'm here waving at you from NW IL!

I wanted to send a shout out to you in Naperville....it was great meeting you in KC this weekend! My goal is to find some time this week to post the story of how I became a mom to the 2 miracles in my life....and to look into my local chapter to start volunteering on a more regular basis with them (though I might find that it's closer & more convenient for me to volunteer with the Iowa Miss Valley division, which includes the hospital my kids were born and where my sis Brandi is the Ambassador Mom)

I'd love to meet for lunch sometime, and find ways to get other IL Preemie Moms out and about to meet each other! I'm always up for heading into the burbs for a Mommy Afternoon =0) I was shocked when I found this IL thread and noticed it hasn't been active at all.....

    I'm new here

    Hi,

My name is Katy. I am the mother of two premature, but very large, boys. My first was a 31.5 weeker who weighed 5lbs and my second was a 36 weeker who weighed a whopping 9lbs 3oz!!! Weight aside, each had their own issues. Obviously my first had MANY more issues than my second, but both are healthy, happy, little boys now!! Thank God!!!
Anyways, I am new here, but would really like to become involved!! Let me know how!!
By the way....any chance anyone delivered at Good Sam????

    I'm new here too!!

Hi, I'm Angela and I am the mother of a premature baby that passed away one week ago. He was born at 24 weeks and 2 days, he was 1lb 8oz. He stayed long enough to touch the lives of many, but now he is my angel watching down on my family and I.

I did not deliver at Good Sam, I was at Rush Copley.

    To Angela...

Hi Angela, welcome to SHARE...I am so very sorry for the loss of your precious son, but I am glad that you have found share. This is a wonderful community with many wonderful people. There is so much comfort, compassion and support, an abundance of it here. I hope sharing your angel with us and knowing that you are not alone comforts you in some small way.

I am a mom to 2 heavenly angel girls Gabby and Abigail. They were born at 22 weeks and 19 weeks gestation, and too small to survive. They are greatly missed and I share your pain and your heartache. I have found that telling others our stories has somehow brought me some peace.
Know that as you continue to grieve your son he will always be with you. As you cradle him in your heart.
    Keeping you in my prayers.
    HUGS and healing thoughts,
    Colleen

    Lil Ricky's Mommy - Dec 5, 2008 7:56 pm (#37 Total: 38)

    Lil Ricky

Hi all. I am a 38 year old mom of a 34 month old ball of energy named Lil Ricky (we named him Richard for my dad). He is an IUGR micro preemie 29 weeks 1 day, 1 lb 6 oz, and 11.8 inches at birth born at LGH and stayed in the LGH lvl 3 NICU. He has a lot of medical problems and developmental delays but is doing excellent despite his rough start and ongoing medical issues.

He is aging out of EI in January and starting the Illinois state preschool therapy. He will continue with OT and SP at home for an hour each week, the school PT and his leg orthotics should be enough per his EI PT. I am having some fears about my own separation anxiety as silly as that sounds! I waited 79 days to be his full time care giving mommy and the only time he was away from me since NICU discharge was during his surgeries and also when he was readmitted to the PICU for terrible apnea and brady spells.

I don't have any friends or family near by except a sister who works at Rush University in the city and ... she is very busy to say the least. So I am a lonely mom who would love to share stories and meet people now that Ricky is strong enough to fight off colds by himself.

Any other moms in the near north burbs who would like to chat? I just want to warn you though we have a bunch of adopted animals so no matter what I do I always have some animal fur on me... so if you are really allergic you may want to just chat from a distance!

    Thanks!
    Lil Ricky's Mommy
