Beating a tumor and prematurity

krusemichaela - 03:49pm Aug 15, 2012 EST

Our daughter, Gloria MaryAnn, was born at 27+6 weeks weighing only 2 pounds and 12 ounces. Her prematurity was expected given that she had battled most of her gestation with a saccrococcygeal teratoma, or a tumor attached to the tailbone. The tumor was discovered when I was only 12 weeks pregnant during a routine ultrasound.
