Our little Yankee Doodle....vickyisblessed - 09:48pm Jul 15, 2012 ESTHi my name is Victoria Lucas, I am an Army wife and this is my story.... I started having Blood Pressure spikes like three weeks ago. My Dr. was administering Iron fusions and that’s how they noticed. So, after being put in the hospital and having test they really didn't find anything. All the Dr's did was put me on bed rest and they were having me come in twice a week to check my BP and monitor Bradley. On my first visit they noticed Bradley's heart rate was not doing well, so they decided to do an ultrasound and a study of the blood flow going to the Baby. That's where it all started... That was July 3, I was admitted to the hospital. Throughout the night they monitored his heart rate which, I thought was getting better because my blood pressure was better. My prayer warriors had come to see me that night and I really felt the peace of The Lord! I truly felt His hand in all of this! Jesus had given me this Baby and He was holding Bradley in the Womb! Well at 7:30 in the morning my Dr., Dr. Diaz-Lopez, came in and told me and Ryan that they had to get Bradley out…. Imagine my reaction! As a Mother you want to give your precious babies a fighting chance, and I truly could not wrap my head around having a 26 week old baby! It just was not possible… at that moment I cried out to Father God, the Dr. told me “Ok,ok this is your baby and if you want to wait we will wait… but if his heart rate goes down one more time, we are going in” I told him I needed to pray and talk it over with my husband, who had been woken up to my crying and screaming, he was some what in shock!!! At that point Ryan and I just prayed, cried and begged for and answer from The Lord. Right then Bradley’s heart rate dipped again and Ryan knew what had to be done. Right then the Dr. came back in and they started the process for a C-Section and Getting ready for Bradley being so small! What they found when they opened me up…. Shocked everyone! Especially my Dr. , my placenta was 75% detached and was even calcifying…. There was dead tissue! Bradley was dying inside of me and no one knew it! I had no symptoms relating to a detached placenta, no bleeding, no pain…. They would have never found it ‘till it was to late. So, from a sickness I was praying to be healed from, high BP is how Bradley was saved!!! That is how awesome God is!!! Baby Bradley was born 1lbs 11oz, 14.5/6” long and on THE OF JULY! He is a fighter! They call him Mr. Feisty! Lol.. Like who I wonder?? He is not on a respirator, yes he is breathing on his own, he is feeding breast milk and cries cause he is hungry… lol they had to increase his feeding and he is a wiggle worm! I have been able to hold him twice now! Praise The Lord….. I don’t know what is in store for us… but this I know, God wanted Bradley on this earth and as his Mom I feel privileged to be part of Bradley’s life! The testimonies and miracles I have seen BOGGLE my mind… and it is all for the glory of God and the testimony of His awesomeness!!!!

Welcome to Share Victoria. Congratulations on your son Bradley!
Thank goodness you had that ultrasound. Sounds like you and your son were in good hands. I hope that he continues to meet his NICU goals. Feisty is good:)

Congratulations on Bradley! I'm so glad to hear that he is doing well! My son was also a 26 weeker. He is almost 4 now and for the most part is a normal, happy and healthy little boy! I hope Bradley continues his great progress and comes home with you soon!

Congratulations on your baby Bradley. I can most certainly relate to your story. I began having contractions at 3 in the morning June 27, and thought they were cramps. So I slept it off thinking it would go away and it didn't. I first went to Florida Hospital only to find out 2 hrs later that they don't treat pregnant women because they lack the equipment and specialist. So at 8am my mother in law drove me to Winnie Palmer only to find out that I was in labor. It was difficult, and I cried because I was only 23.3 weeks pregnant and they told me that my baby had a 60% chance of survivng. I felt like I was in movie and couldn't believe it. But she was born that same day at 11:27pm. When the doctor looked at my placenta, it was the same as yours, ruptured and started calcifying. But she is now in the nicu 3 weeks old and still kicking. Although she has had her complications she is still fighting. They call her fiesty and a wiggle worm because she moves alot also. Lol. Its hard but they are miracles and I truly believe that we are a special kind of mom that God chose specifically for this kind of situation. We should always keep our head up because God is protecting them all the way.
Best Wishes on your beautiful baby,
Jocelyn
