From Tragedy to Blessing.. <><
jennidoo - 06:59pm Jul 2, 2012 ESTI wanted to share my story here in this forum because many people around me seem to be so uncomfortable when I share it. But when I share it, it makes me feel better and gives me an opportunity to think about the blessings I do have!
I was pregnant with twins (Monoamniotic-Monochorionic "MoMo" twins). Yep, 1 out of 35,000 are these types of twins! I should have played the lotto! Anyway, I found myself admitted to the hospital at 23 weeks experiencing pre-term labor. I was in the hospital for 5 weeks. It was horrible being away from my family. I have a 16 year old, 11 year old, and 1 year old! They did continuous monitoring which seemed ineffective. The hospital staff were amazing! The 28 week and 1 day 12/4/11 they were conducting an ultra sound and noticed my baby Layla Marie at the bottom of the uterus barely breathing...
Emergency c-section... Rose Ayanna was born without difficulty and weighing 2.7 lbs. Layla Marie was recussitated for 22 mins and rushed to the NICU. It was too late, my baby girl went too long without oxygen to the brain.
Of course, I think "what if's" and wonder if this is any of my wrong doing? The conclusion I came to is no! The cord was entangled around both babies necks and bodies several times. If Layla didn't experience her difficulties then I probably wouldn't have Rose today. In these types of twins when one dies the other one dies as well. We are so fortunate to have Rose.
I give all the credit to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ for helping with the grief and allowing me to parent this beautiful baby girl.
Rose is 8 months, perfectly healthy, weighing 17.1lbs now! Thank you for this formum to share.
