Luke's Prayer

LivingForMyBoys - 08:44pm Jun 27, 2012 EST

at a Routine ultrasound of my 4th and 5th sons the doctor found a blood clot between my twins, they were fraternal so they each had there own placenta and baby "a" placenta was bleeding and was causing the clot, they immediately admitted me to the labor and delivery ward for further test's.they did a ultrasound everyday for a few days and noticed the clot was getting a little bigger each day, but was under control, they said I was on mandatory bed rest and would be staying with them for a while, a few days later I was getting swollen, and they did some lab's, they came in to talk to me that night and said I had preeaclampsia, & they would need to do more test's to see my levels of protein in my urine output, we did a 24 hour urine catch and two days later they came in and said my levels were touching 1400, and informed me that those levels are incredibly high and I would be in the hospital until my twins were born which was 4+ months away, I was heartbroken that I would be away from my other three little boy's for such a long time. the days went on in the hospital, A while later,a horrible headache came on to me, the doctors got concerned, a horrible headache along with other symptoms means severe preeaclampsia, with severe preeaclampsia I could not stay pregnant the doctors would deliver immediately, so it was cause for more test's, they did an mri scan of my brain to see if there were any other causes for the head ache, they tried all kinds of different medicines to make it go away,4 days later when it would not go away they classified me as severe preeaclamptic, that day at 2 O'clock They wheeled me back to the operating room to deliver my twins on the day They turned 27weeks gestation,My twins were born! It was such a happy time filled with sadness, I didnt know if they would survive life with coming into this world so premature,Baby"B" was 1lb 14oz 13inches we named him ELI GRAY~&~ Baby "A" was 2lb 1oz 13inches we named him LUKE STONE, they were fighter's, I was not able to see them untill 24 hours later when the headache supsided,When I saw them I was heart broken to see such a tiny child going through what they had to go through,Eli was on oxygen a feeding tube and Iv's in his belly button,Luke had a feeding tube and also had Iv's in his belly button but was also on life support, it was a hard thing for us to watch as we couldnt do anything to help them, over the next 6 days luke had several blood transfusions,2 collapsed lungs and was fighting such a hard battle, on the 7th day of life lukes brain started to bleed, the doctors scale bleeds in the brain 1 through 4 & 4 being the worst, luke had a grade 4 brain bleed,Ultimatly he lost that fight on the 7th day of his life, he died in my arms, He paid the ultimate price because of premature birth. God had greater plans for my son luke, I will do everything in my power to make sure this cause is spead for my son, and to raise awareness for other preemature babie's~ I owe it to my son luke!!! His twin brother is still in the nicu and is now 2 & 1/2 months old and is 5lbs 8oz & 17inches long and he will be coming home to with us and his brothers in a few short weeks!!! Please keep lukes memory alive

Mom to Donovyn (32 weeker), Tristyn (34 weeker), and Naethyn (30 weeker born sleeping)

LivingForMyBoys, welcome to Share. I am deeply sorry for the loss of your baby boy Luke. You must be so proud of those days he fought to stay with you all. My heart goes out to you. I had severe preeclampsia too and it robbed us of our third son three years ago. I hope that Eli continues to grow and meet his NICU goals. Please keep us updated as you can.

All my best,

Lindsay
