SarahBeth

JHolt - 07:37am Mar 5, 2010 EST

Our story started out 5 weeks pre-term. My wife woke me up at 1:00 am saying her water had broke. In a panic since we knew it was to early we rushed to the hospital. After the doctors checked everything out they decided to do an emergency c-section, for the cord might be wrapped around the babies neck. 2 hours later I'm sitting beside my wife in the O.R. wiping tears out of my eyes because my baby was coming early... I was so not prepared! What was I going to do? All kinds of things were going through my mind... would she make it? How long would she be in the NICU? Will my wife be ok? Will our insurance pay for the NICU.... HOW IN THE WORLD WILL I LEAVE MY BABY IN THE HOSPITAL??? But as soon as I saw her and she had all 10 fingers and all 10 toes and was screaming at the top of her lungs I knew everything was going to be fine... The doctors said she was just ready, even though she was only 5 pounds. We were so lucky and I'm so thankful to my good Lord in Heaven and all the doctors and Nurses and North Georgia Medical Center. They made our 5 days in the NICU seem so easy. They made it known to us that our baby was in good hands and she was in perfect health. She just needed to be watched because she was labeled a premature baby. It was so heart breaking to me when we were having her NICU graduation and all the nurses were clapping and seeing her off. But in the back of my mind and as I was looking around and thanking how lucky I am to have my baby going home in such a short time, that half of those babies would never get to see their home or be with their families. As of now 4 months later little SarahBeth is still doing wonderful. She has caught up with all the other babies her age, she has tripled her birth weight! To wind my story up I just want to say I know what you all are going through or have been through. It will all be ok, just put it in Gods hands he will help you through ANYTHING!!!!!

Welcome to Share!!! Congratulations on the arrival of Sarahbeth! Looks like she's going to be one to keep you on your toes!! I'm happy to hear that things are going well for her and that her stay in the NICU was a short one...even though any amount of time seems too long when it comes to our kids!

I'm a fellow Georgian so WELCOME!! We'd love to hear more about this amazing little girl as she grows!
