hydrocephalus

mrdcorner - 06:34pm Feb 8, 2010 EST

I was diagnosed with hydrocephalus when I was 19. I had my fird shunt placed in 1978. During the next year I was in 3 seperate comma totaling 1 year. The longest was a deep comma for 7 months. During that year I required 14 shunt revisions. The next reviosns were 7 years later 1 month apart. I dind not neeed any revision for 14 years then neede 2 1 year apart. The last revision was 3 years ago and I was working full time . The position I was working at required me to travel. I was working approx 3 hours from home. I had hjust had a checl up beore I left and everything checked out fine. I was told that I was found on the hotel room floot at 3:00am.
Nuerosurgeon was not happy. When I got home and needed him to remove staple. When I got out of the hospital after my first batch of suregeries I was told Not to go to school and to stay away form numbers and diagrams.I decided that I was not going to accept that without trying so I enrolled in college and was awarded a Associate In applied Science Degree in Electronics and the completed a program in Accounting and Dara base management.. I have work jobs that included severvice posions including a field serve as a technician for Pepsi. After my last surgery it was suggested that I not seek further employment and go on disability. Not my first choice,But not alot of options.
