I'm sorry about your loss. I miscarried twice; the first time at 8 weeks and the second at 18 weeks. I can only imagine what you're feeling. I do know you must be feeling enormous joy w/ this pregnancy. Keep praying and everything will be okay. Take care of yourself. God Bless you. I'm here as a support as well.

I am sorry for your loss as well!! Did you have a boy or girl? I am so excited to be pregnant again but I am so nervous too. Did your cervix shorten too or was your experience different? I am so excited to talk to people that know how I feel. It is very hard dealing with the loss of my son and being pregnant. I am so happy to pregnant and would not change it for anythin in the world but I still miss my baby boy too! Anyways how is your pregnany going this time? I will pray for you and your baby as well. Thanks so much for posting!!! I think it's important to talk to people that you can share the same stories with!!

Hi All,
I have been reading your postings and am so sorry to hear of all the heartache. I too am new to Share. My baby girl was born October 30th at just 22 weeks and is now with the angels. After some testing was done, we found out the pre-term birth was caused by something called Velamentous Cord Insertion. This was our first baby, and though she's not here with us, she has changed our lives forever. This is definitely the most difficult thing we've ever had to go through.

new girl here...
Everyone,
I am so sorry to hear of all the losses. I can not imagine what you are going through! I am new to this whole thing. I am a frequent blogger on a trying to conceive sight but as much as I love the ladies on there, they just don't know where I am in life. I tried to conceive my 2nd child for over a year. With the help of medication I finally conceived! At 22 weeks I was put on bed rest for incompetent cervix. I made it to 26 weeks and went into labor VERY quickly! My son was born after only 45 minutes of labor! He spent 76 days in the NICU and is now home for about a month. I was actually looking for a site that would help other parents deal with the NICU since we just went through it all.

Hello all! My wife & I are foster parents and got a call to take a 7 week old baby currently in the NICU step down program. We have no idea what we are in for and need all the support we can get! What has helped? What is good to read and what should we stay away from?

Welcome to Share! I say, stay away from Google searches of what the dr. says....it's way to stressful to read about worse case scenarios when your child is probably the farthest thing from it! I think it's awesome that you've stepped up to help this little one out. My greatest advice is get some great movies for the winter months and keep this little one protected from the germs!! Tracy

congrats. its a wonderful adventure.
ill say. keep your child out of daycare as long as possiable. if you can wait till the child is 2 years old at least.
if you cant wait that long watch out for RSV. season. make sure before leaving the NICU. you speak to the dr about a shot that can help your child during this season.
also depending on which state you live in . theres resources that can be very helpful as well.
but dont worry about the all the small things . just remeber this is a wonderful time with the baby.

hi everyone
im new here.. just saw post here.i never had a child on NICU because this is my first pregnancy..but let me share you, that my daughter was born on her 37th weeks weighing only 2200grms. i was supposedly to give birth on her on December 20th 2008 but she came out last November 30, 2008. i had an emergency cesarean by that day because my amniotic fluid is too little and my baby's hearth beat also slows down.when i was put at the OR table,im praying that my baby is safe and sound. though she's normal she had meconium stain by that time already.so she was given antibiotics IM because of an increase in her WBC. after how many days of antibiotic injections her pedia asked us to had her a repeat CBC and platelet count.so on the 4th dat of December we went to the hospital and do that test.thanks God, her laboratory exams is better than before.Dec.05, 2008 we went then to the clinic of her pedia and gave the result..additional to this, because of my baby's small for her gestational weight her Dr. prescribed her Heraclene to be added on her milk once a day, this is for her to catch up on her weight.this is amazing because as of Dec.27, 2008 my baby now weighs 3.2kg. to God be the Glory. so if you want your children to gain weight.ask your Dr. if they can have some of this Heraclene.. thank you and Godbless all.. baby

Connor's Mom
Hi All,
I am new to Share as well. I have found this website to be extremely helpful during this difficult period of my life. My son Connor was born on November 6, 2008 at 25 weeks, 2 days. He fought so hard throughout my pregnancy as well as 13 days of his life. On November 19th, he passed away due to premature lungs and not being able to oxygenate. I feel worse today than I did almost 2 months ago.
My thoughts and prayers are with you!
Mary Ellen

Mary Ellen,
I am glad you found Share. I too lost my son after he was born at 26 weeks. He lived for thirty three days, he lungs were a big factor in his passing.
I know I had ups and downs after losing Will. I would have several "good" days and then the bad days would just take over. We are here to listen whenever you need us. I found it extremely helpful to start a blog too.

A heart still saddened....
Hello, I'm new here. I've come here to meet up with people who have had similar experience's as myself so that I can find comfort. I find myself realizing that regular people just don't understand what we have gone through and in this point in my life I'm still struggling with a sad heart. Everyday I ask myself 'Does this pain ever go away?'.
My only daughter Kyleen was born at 23 weeks. She lived for only an hour. My dr. saying it was a fluke thing being very non comforting to me. I still remember that day like it was yesterday She would be 10 years old today. I have always felt that Kyleen took half of my heart with her.
Since then I have had two beautiful boys. Jeremy was 29weeks weighing 2lbs 10oz, and Khristian at 35 weeks weighing 6lb. With Khristian I chose an amazing high risk doctor. I started contracting at 24 weeks with him then put on bed rest for the duration. I had to take a medication for it's side effect which calmed my contractions. (Turb) Also my doctor had me try a newer prescription, a shot of Progesterone which between those two things and the bed rest it seemed to be an okay pregnancy. If you are pregnant and prone to problems, you should check with your dr. about these methods. It worked for me. My boys are 7 and 2 now. Why the gap in age? I was scared out of my mind to try again.
Thank you for reading and for the support!
-April Brant-

New Here
Hi all,
Happy New Year...This past year has definatly been rough for me. I am mom to 4 wonderful children and I am in my final semester of Nursing school. My fourth baby, Steven decided to enter into this world 9 weeks early. He weighed 2lbs 14oz. I went into preterm labor and was able to get steroids for his lungs, thank God. The doctors thought they were successful in stopping my labor and I was sent home 3 days after my initial admission. Well I ended up coming back the same day I was discharged and I was in active labor. I delivered within an hour of being at the hospital. My son came out crying and breathing in his own. He was my first premature baby so it was all new to me. I was so worried. I happen to work in L&D and have worked in the NICU, so I know too much and was totally prepared for the worst. Fortunatly my son did very well. He never required oxygen and only was on caffine for 4 weeks. I thank God for my precious boy. He was born 8/9/08...I look forward to being an active member og this site.
