    Moving to Seattle Area

Hello....I'm hoping someone living in WA could maybe help me. My fiance is getting transferred to Seattle and we will be moving there around the end of the year or beginning of the new year. My son currently receives Early Intervention, here in North Carolina, and we will be transferring all of that. I was just wondering if anyone could help with information regarding safe/nice places to live, good agencies to work with for EI (Caeleb receives speech and OT), and kid-friendly areas. I can be reached at amy_caeleb@hotmail.com
    Thanks,
    Amy
~mommy to Caeleb, 33 weeker who is now 23 months old!!!

Amy, I'll let Share parents fill you in with details, but we have good early intervention programs here. You might want to start on the state's page, then go deeper into Seattle resources from there. It also depend where in the Seattle area you are settling - in the city or the 'burbs!

Hi- I am Barbara And i Also delivered a baby at Tacoma General . She was born at 28 weeks ( 1160 grams) on april 5, 2003. She was my 3rd baby.. my first 2 were born slightly preterm, but very healthy with minimal issues. my 28 weeker, Danielle is 32 month old now and has some issues with FTT, oromotor/speech issues, and BPD but otherwise doing pretty good. I just had another baby on Oct 26, 2005.. 6 wks ago, at 27 weeks at Madigan Army Medical Hospital. we are a military ( navy) family. My 28 week baby had to be born at TG because madigan's NICU was understaffed. My 27 wks baby, Kirsten was 780 grams at birth. and as of now she is topping the scales at 1300 something grams( 2 lbs 10 oz or so) she was due Jan 23, so we have some weeks ahead of us before she comes home. She is doing ok- but i would love to see her off CPAP( she was on the vent for only 1 day!) she had a PDA but it closed up on its own and she has had sepsis, low HCT, and some respiratory issues but thats it so far. she had her ROP test this morning we are still waiting on those results. Nice to meet ya! I am from Belfair , by the way.

Re: Hi! I am from WA

I just wanted to say hi and I thought it was so strange that we both had our babies just one day apart. April 5th and I had my daughter on April 6th 2003. so our babies were there together and we may even have looked at each other, or passed by. My daughter was a 24 weeker and was there for a long time. I am now pregnant with my 4th baby. Anyways hope everything goes well~

from Washington State (Tri City Area)

Our daughter was born on 10-13-2006 at Kadlec Hospital. She was 30 weeks and 2 pounds 2 ounces, 14 inches. We would very much like to meet other parents in our area dealing with a preemie for support, laughs, and the tears involved with the roller coaster of a preemie. God Bless our little fighter and all the other babies and parents out there. Waiting for the day we can bring her home.

Just wanting to send best wishes for your daughter too quickly grow strong and come home to you. I had a 24 wkr. and I know the struggles of having to leave your baby at the hospital and trying to go home and return to the everyday life.

How is she doing? I hope she is home soon. How much does she weigh now?

    Best wishes!

    Hi

We too live in the Tri-Cities. I hope your daughter is doing well. How do you like Kadlec NICU? My husband and I had 25 weeker twin boys five years ago. The boys stayed at Sacred Heart in Spokane, because they were so small. One son died at two days. The other one is still hear with us. We have since had two full termies at Kadlec. We know some of the loops and where and how to get help if you need help. do you know if there is a March of Dimes chapter here in the Tricities area?

I will be praying for your little one. I had a 32 weeker at Kadlec in May. She is now almost 7 months and doing well. This is my first time here but I would also love to get to know some other people who have preemies in this area!
